Tyson Fury aims to reassert his status among the elite heavyweights tonight. The British fighter returns from his latest retirement to face formidable Russian contender Arslanbek Makhmudov at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Fury’s Recent Form and Goals
Fury has not secured a victory over a top-tier opponent since knocking out Derek Chisora in their third bout four years ago. He nearly lost to former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou and then suffered consecutive defeats to Oleksandr Usyk. Makhmudov recently outpointed British fighter Dave Allen but now confronts a sterner test as Fury targets a blockbuster matchup with Anthony Joshua.

Fighters’ Comments
Tyson Fury said: “This Anthony Joshua fight was supposed to happen so many times over the last 10 years, but then someone has had one more fight in between and someone has got knocked out or injured. I think we should get this fight on as soon as possible in case something happens in between. The problem is that in heavyweight boxing anything can go wrong, there are no easy fights. And if you get knocked upside down, it’s finished, it’s done. I want it as the fight next and I’m sure AJ feels the same. Forget Wilder, the man is a shell of himself. Forget anyone else. Let me get through Saturday and then we will do the fight before the end of the year. I’ve been out of the ring longer than he has, 16 months out of the ring. Let’s do it, let’s dance.”
Arslanbek Makhmudov responded: “I don’t know how I will beat Fury, but of course I believe I will win. This guy, he is a legend, one of the best heavyweights in history. Tyson Fury is the professor of mind and boxing. A lot of boxing is mental and he is a master. But boxing is also spiritual. I am going to be strong, spiritual and smart. You can say this is a war between mental and spiritual and we’ll see who is more successful. Inshallah it is spiritual.”
