A devastating fire erupted in a crowded residence in Winnipeg’s west end on Saturday morning, just before 10 a.m., in the 300 block of Agnes Street.
Incident Details and Emergency Response
First responders arrived quickly to the scene, where they evaluated seven individuals. Five victims required immediate transport to local hospitals for treatment.
Fatalities and Victim Status
Tragically, by Sunday, an 18-year-old and a 48-year-old woman had succumbed to their injuries. The remaining three individuals continue to recover in stable condition.
Major Crimes Unit Investigation
Due to the fatalities, the Winnipeg Police Major Crimes Unit has assumed control of the probe. Investigators actively examine the site to pinpoint the blaze’s origin.
As of Monday, the property has become a makeshift memorial, adorned with tributes from the community while the inquiry proceeds.
