Two Yellowknife residents face multiple weapons charges after police seized an imitation firearm during an investigation.

Officials received a report Thursday indicating three individuals were observed outside an apartment complex, with one carrying a pistol and bear spray. Authorities identified the suspects, arrested them, and recovered an imitation pistol from the scene.
Investigators link the incident to the city’s illicit drug trade.
Charges Filed
A 39-year-old local man, already prohibited from possessing firearms, faces charges of weapons possession, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and carrying a concealed weapon. He remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
A 40-year-old Yellowknife man faces charges of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, and resisting arrest. He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
