A 53-year-old man from Northwestern Ontario faces two counts of luring a person under 16 years of age through telecommunications following an Ontario Provincial Police investigation into online child sexual exploitation.

Investigation and Arrest

On February 17, officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Fort Frances, seizing electronic devices from the property. The probe targeted online child exploitation activities.

Court Appearance and Restrictions

A publication ban is in place, limiting further details from authorities. The accused has been released from custody and is set to appear in court on April 2.

“A publication ban has been issued and as a result, the OPP will not be able to provide further information,” police stated in a release.

Police Commitment to Child Safety

“The safety and protection of children is a top priority for the OPP, and we remain committed to identifying and pursuing individuals who use technology to exploit them,” provincial police emphasized.

Reporting Information

Anyone with details on this case should contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or submit tips anonymously to Crime Stoppers. Reports of online child exploitation can also be filed at cybertip.ca.

Support Resources

Rainy River District Victim Services offers assistance to those affected. Parents and guardians are urged to discuss internet safety with children and access resources at cybertip.ca or protectchildren.ca.

Individuals dealing with sexual assault or trauma can find crisis support through local victim services and related programs.
