A pristine copy of “Superman” No. 1 bought for $9.12 million at Heritage Auctions on Thursday, making it the most costly comedian guide ever bought at public sale. Superman made his comedian guide debut in 1938 in “Motion Comics” No. 1. The anthology comedian is commonly credited as kicking off the superhero style in comics. The recognition of the Man of Metal — created by author Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster — led to the launch of his personal comedian guide collection in 1939.

Along with the launch concern of “Superman,” the mom’s comedian guide assortment included problems with “Motion Comics” Nos. 9, 12, 15, 18 and 21.

In keeping with Heritage Auctions, this copy of “Superman” No. 1 is one in all simply seven identified copies with a CGC grade of 6.0 or larger. A CGC graded 8.0 copy of “Superman” No. 1 bought for $5.3 million in 2022.
