Cometti enjoyed a remarkable career spanning more than 50 years, calling Australian Rules football games with his signature smooth voice. Fans adored his sharp wit and impromptu one-liners, which cemented his status as a beloved figure in sports broadcasting.

He formed one of the most celebrated duos in Australian sports media alongside Bruce McAvaney during their time at Seven. Throughout his career, Cometti worked across major networks including ABC, Seven, Nine, 3AW, and concluded with Triple M in Perth, retiring in 2021 after his final game call.
