Iconic Australian Football League (AFL) commentator Dennis Cometti has passed away at the age of 76. His death, following a battle with illness, was confirmed on Wednesday.

Cometti enjoyed a remarkable career spanning more than 50 years, calling Australian Rules football games with his signature smooth voice. Fans adored his sharp wit and impromptu one-liners, which cemented his status as a beloved figure in sports broadcasting.
Memorable Partnerships and Broadcasting Journey
He formed one of the most celebrated duos in Australian sports media alongside Bruce McAvaney during their time at Seven. Throughout his career, Cometti worked across major networks including ABC, Seven, Nine, 3AW, and concluded with Triple M in Perth, retiring in 2021 after his final game call.
Hall of Fame Honors
Following his last broadcast, Cometti earned induction into the West Australian Hall of Fame. He also received prestigious recognition in the Sport Australia Hall of Fame and the Australian Football Hall of Fame, underscoring his enduring legacy in the sport.
