A 48-year-old man lies in an induced coma following an alleged punch during a brawl in a Waterford West car park, Logan.
The altercation unfolded on Bourke Street near the Chambers Flat Road intersection—home to a McDonald’s restaurant and a pub—around 4:20 p.m. on Tuesday. Multiple individuals participated in the fight.
A police spokesperson stated that a 29-year-old man from Marsden struck the victim in the face. The blow caused the 48-year-old to fall and strike his head on the bitumen, resulting in a serious head injury.
Paramedics rushed the injured man to Princess Alexandra Hospital in critical condition. Medical staff placed him in an induced coma, where he remained as of Wednesday morning.
Officers arrested the 29-year-old at the scene and charged him with grievous bodily harm. He faces Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Less than 24 hours earlier, authorities discovered a man dead in a car park on Chambers Flat Road. Investigators believe someone drove him there from a residence in nearby Logan Reserve, where he sustained a single stab wound to the chest.
