Exciting Contract Moment for Chiefs Stars
Patrick Mahomes delivers an enthusiastic congratulations to Travis Kelce via video call, moments before the Kansas City Chiefs tight end finalizes his new contract paperwork. “Congrats, man,” Mahomes says in the shared clip. Kelce responds with excitement, “What’s up, one five?” referencing Mahomes’ jersey number.
The exchange, captured during the signing process, highlights the duo’s strong bond. Kelce secures a three-year extension potentially worth up to $57 million, including incentives. Recent speculation about the 36-year-old’s possible retirement—amid wedding plans with Taylor Swift—ends as he commits to the Chiefs.
“Home sweet home,” Mahomes adds, noting Kelce’s offseason beard. “I just wanted to call to say congratulations. I know you’ve got stuff going on.” Mahomes continues rehabilitation from season-ending knee surgery after tearing his ACL on December 14.
Challenges at Kelce and Mahomes’ Steakhouse
Kelce’s return coincides with scrutiny over 1587 Prime, the steakhouse the Chiefs stars opened in September. High-profile visits from Super Bowl champions, Swift, and Brittany Mahomes initially boosted its appeal, but negative reviews mount.
TikToker Nicole Rose describes her recent $650 meal as “the worst fine-dining experience I’ve ever had.” She reports a 45-minute wait for a $33 martini, served tableside after wrong orders and poor service. “It took us 45 minutes to get a martini. Our server got us the wrong drink,” she says. Fried chicken arrives before drinks at $25, deemed underwhelming. Her $100 steak arrives incorrectly cooked, with forgotten $15 sauces.
“Couldn’t tell the server, you couldn’t even find the server to save your life,” Rose notes. She praises mashed potatoes, broccoli, and bread rolls but calls the rest “not good and not worth it.” The visit disappoints further as friends from Denver and one departing for six months in the Army join her.
Earlier, critic Liz Cook labels 1587 Prime a “child-like idea of luxury.” She writes, “Complaining about the prices… is predictable, but hardly the worst part.” Cook criticizes it as a “parched vision of luxury” with “rehashed ideas… and lazy local outsourcing.”
Chiefs Bolster Quarterback Depth
The Chiefs recently acquire New York Jets quarterback Justin Fields via trade, positioning him as a potential starter if Mahomes faces recovery challenges. The three-time Super Bowl winner focuses on rehab to return strong.
