Ben Shephard marked 22 years since proposing to his wife, Annie, with a touching throwback photo on Instagram. The television presenter shared a snapshot of the couple during an early winter countryside walk, capturing the beginnings of their romance.
Playful Proposal Moment
In the caption, Ben reflected on the lighthearted exchange: “So 22 years ago today @mrsannieshephard said ‘oh go on then’ and that was that! It might have taken me nine years to realise it and to ask her to marry me but she’s still the best thing to happen to me.”
The post quickly garnered over 37,000 likes, drawing warm responses from fellow celebrities. His This Morning co-host Cat Deeley commented, “The Marvelous Mrs Sheps.” Others, including Fearne Cotton, Rochelle Humes, and Jimmy Doherty, sent strings of congratulatory emojis, while Joel Dommett declared, “This is THE BEST.”
From University Sweethearts to Family Life
Ben and Annie first connected as students at the University of Birmingham. He proposed during a trip to Paris, and the couple tied the knot in 2004 in Salcombe, Devon. They now raise two sons, Sam, 21, and Jack, 19.
Ben recently praised Annie’s unwavering support: “Annie was with me way before I got into telly. She has been through everything with me, the highs and lows. She’s exceptionally patient. And I’m very patient with new shoes. What I really think is that we were great mates when we got together.”
He continued, “Annie has been brilliant at allowing me the space to go off and do the job I do. She’s been the most important factor in our lives as a family; this amazing influence who created the home for our boys to become who they are and certainly made me better at being a dad.”
Careers and Shared Passions
While Ben gained fame hosting shows like Tipping Point and Good Morning Britain, Annie channels her creativity as a garden and interior designer. She showcases her projects, including their own backyard, on a dedicated Instagram account.
