A 29-year-old drug dealer faced arrest during a police raid when officers caught him on the toilet attempting to dispose of his drugs. Tobe Ojukwe sat perched on the bowl at a property on Stockwell Court in Mansfield on June 6, 2024, as Nottinghamshire Police executed a warrant. Officers discovered a bag with 94 wraps of heroin and 37 wraps of crack cocaine floating in the toilet water.
Prior Investigation Leads to Raid
Ojukwe had drawn police attention after a vehicle stop in August 2023. Intelligence indicated he drove uninsured on Padley Hill in Mansfield. A search of the car revealed over £450 worth of crack cocaine and heroin, along with mobile phones and cash. Analysis of the phones uncovered text messages that exposed his drug supply operations, including one where he described the risks of the “drug business.”
Court Sentencing and Guilty Plea
Facing overwhelming evidence, Ojukwe pleaded guilty to six counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. On March 31, Nottingham Crown Court sentenced the resident of Froghopper Lane, Sutton-in-Ashfield, to six years and six months in prison.
Police Commitment to Combating Drugs
PC Dean Fenton of Nottinghamshire Police emphasized the consequences for persistent offenders. He stated: “Ojukwe is a persistent criminal who tried and failed twice to outsmart the police as the inevitable consequences of his trade caught up with him. Illegal drugs are a blight on our communities and we are committed to taking dealers like Ojukwe off of our streets. If people are dealing drugs in our community, they can be assured that they too can expect to come face to face with us.”
