This update follows LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil’s recent statement to staff and players two weeks ago. O’Neil affirmed the season would continue “uninterrupted and at full throttle,” countering rumors that Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund might withdraw support after the league’s expenditures exceeded $5 billion since 2022.
Reasons for the Delay
Organizers aim to avoid extreme summer temperatures, ensure the course reaches championship condition, and minimize conflicts with World Cup attendance and viewership. New Orleans hosts no World Cup matches.
Louisiana’s Financial Commitment
Louisiana officials pledged $5 million to LIV Golf last August, plus $2.2 million for Bayou Oaks improvements. The state anticipates repayment of $1 million already advanced for the event.
