Republican Congressman Mike Lawler sharply criticized former colleague Marjorie Taylor Greene, labeling her one of the ‘dumbest people to ever serve in Congress’ after she accused him of secretly hating President Donald Trump.
Lawler’s Fiery Social Media Rebuttal
Lawler, representing New York, fired back in a detailed social media post. He dismissed Greene’s credibility, calling her ‘Jewish Space Laser Lady’ and ‘Moscow Marge.’ ‘Unlike Marjorie, who went from sycophant to psychopath in the span of 5 years, I’ve always been true to who I am and what I believe,’ Lawler wrote.
He highlighted his support for Trump, noting three votes in his favor, his role as a 2016 delegate, and collaboration on lifting the SALT deduction cap. Lawler emphasized independence: ‘When I agree with the President, I say it. When I disagree with the President, I say it. I will always represent my district and do what I think is right for our country.’ He concluded that Greene could ‘go sit and spin’ as one of the ‘least liked and most ignorant members to ever serve.’
Greene’s Accusations in Tucker Carlson Interview
Greene claimed Lawler mocked Trump relentlessly, mimicking his voice and showing disdain. She described him as ‘literally a Democrat’ who opposed Republican priorities and bullied her for backing Trump in 2020. ‘He used to attack me, make fun of me, come and find me on the House floor,’ she told Carlson.
Greene noted Lawler’s shift after Trump’s 2024 victory, from critic to apparent supporter, including bragging about a Trump-signed MAGA hat. She argued loyalists like herself received no rewards compared to him.
Contrasting Records and Criticisms
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee targeted Lawler last fall, claiming he voted with Trump 100% of the time despite posing as a moderate. ‘Fake moderate Mike Lawler was elected to represent the Lower Hudson Valley, but it looks like he’s been doing the bidding of Donald Trump instead,’ their statement read.
Lawler’s Campaign Spending Draws Scrutiny
Federal Election Commission records reveal Lawler’s campaign spent over $150,000 from 2022 to 2025 on luxury items, including limousines, private boat charters, five-star hotels, celebrity restaurants, and resorts. Highlights include a $3,400 sushi dinner, $7,355 on boat charters, a $1,300 Las Vegas meeting, a $700 Ritz-Carlton stay, and $560 at a Beverly Hills boutique, plus events at the Ryder Cup and country clubs.
His campaign disbursed $10,959 on limousines in 2024-2025. A limousine lobby group hosted a fundraiser for him, with executives donating over $20,000. Critics nickname him ‘Limousine Lawler.’ A spokesman defended the expenses as legitimate for a top fundraiser.
