Britney Spears views her recent DUI incident as a “blessing in disguise” in her first statement since completing sentencing and leaving rehab. The 44-year-old singer shared reflections on her spiritual journey via Instagram.
Instagram Post Highlights Growth
Spears posted a photo of a striking yellow and white snake she spotted at a pet store with her children. “Snakes are symbolic of good health, higher consciousness, and pure luck… I’m so damn thankful to my friends and so many new beautiful people I have met through my spiritual journey… all a blessing in disguise,” she captioned.
She emphasized ongoing self-improvement: “I still need to learn how to be kind to myself and the way I speak to myself… It’s a never-ending journey and sometimes I just stop, look up and say wow God I think that was you and smile.”
Sentencing Details Emerge
Spears pleaded guilty to misdemeanor DUI charges at Ventura County Superior Court via her attorney, Michael Goldstein. The court sentenced her to 12 months probation, one day in jail (already served), a $721 fine, and a three-month alcohol and drug education program.
Further mandates include weekly psychologist sessions, twice-monthly psychiatrist visits, no alcohol or drugs except prescriptions, and warrantless vehicle searches if stopped by police. Commissioner Matthew Nemerson oversaw the proceedings.
Her attorney confirmed post-hearing: “Miss Spears is doing well. She came home in anticipation of this hearing.” The plea, termed a “wet reckless,” applies to first-time offenders with low blood alcohol levels, no crash or injury, and demonstrated rehab motivation.
Voluntary Rehab Stay
Following her March 4 arrest, Spears voluntarily checked into Borden Cottage, a high-end Maine facility with 45-day minimum stays costing up to $140,000. She departed after nearly three weeks to address substance abuse and mental health.
Family Milestone Missed
Spears skipped a family gathering for her niece Maddie Spears’ high school graduation. Attendees included sister Jamie Lynn Spears, mother Lynne, father Jamie, and son Sean Preston, 20. Jamie Lynn’s daughters, 17-year-old Maddie and 8-year-old Ivey, marked the occasion.
Son Addresses Mother’s Well-Being
Son Jayden Federline, 19, whom Spears shares with ex-husband Kevin Federline, offered a brief response during a West Hollywood outing. He said “no comment” on her rehab but nodded yes when asked if she is doing good.
