Manchester United Receives Positive Endorsement for Winger Target
Manchester United has reportedly received a significant boost in their pursuit of Everton winger Iliman Ndiaye, with former United manager Ruben Amorim publicly praising the player. Reports suggest the Premier League club has identified the £60 million-rated forward as a key target for the upcoming summer transfer window, aiming to strengthen their left-wing options.
Ndiaye, 26, has emerged as a standout performer for Everton during his two seasons at the club. His talent was notably highlighted by Amorim in the lead-up to a match at Old Trafford in November of last year. The Portuguese manager singled out the Senegal international as one of the few players capable of posing a serious threat to the Manchester United defense.
Amorim’s High Praise for Ndiaye
During a pre-match press conference, Amorim commented on the quality of attacking players, stating, “I think [Jack] Grealish is doing really well. He can push that team, can give weight to that team. [Iliman] Ndiaye is an amazing player.” He further emphasized the difficulty of facing a well-rounded team, adding, “So, all these things, [it] is a more complete team, and David Moyes is doing an amazing job. It’s going to be really, really tough to win the game.”
Despite Amorim’s assessment, David Moyes’ side secured a surprising 1-0 victory in that fixture, even after playing a significant portion of the match with ten men following the dismissal of Idrissa Gana Gueye. Ndiaye contributed six league goals and three assists this past season, further bolstering his reputation.
United’s Summer Transfer Strategy
With Manchester United preparing for a return to Champions League football, the club is keen to enhance its attacking capabilities. The versatile Ndiaye, who can operate on either flank or in an attacking midfield role, is expected to feature for Senegal in an upcoming friendly against Saudi Arabia. A strong performance in this international fixture could potentially increase his market value.
Although Ndiaye has three years remaining on his current Everton contract, he may represent a more financially viable option for United compared to other targets. The club has also ed interest in RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande and Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers. Diomande is reportedly a priority for Liverpool, with Leipzig placing an £86 million price tag on the 19-year-old. Rogers’ future at Aston Villa is also uncertain, with several top clubs monitoring his situation, and the Europa League champions are reportedly considering a sale in the region of £80 million.
Ederson Deal Nears Completion
In other transfer news, Manchester United appears to be close to securing their first summer signing. A deal has reportedly been agreed with Atalanta for Brazilian midfielder Ederson, with an initial fee of £35 million. This move is intended to fill the midfield void left by Casemiro’s departure. However, Ederson’s recent inclusion in Brazil’s World Cup squad may necessitate a revised timeline for finalizing the transfer.
The club continues to actively search for at least one additional midfielder, particularly in light of potential interest in Manuel Ugarte, following a two-year spell at the club that has not met expectations.
