Jerry Hall Opens Up About Post-Divorce Life and Future Relationships
Jerry Hall has shared candid details about her life following her divorce from media mogul Rupert Murdoch, revealing that she has had no contact with her former husband since their split. The couple’s marriage, which lasted six and a half years, concluded in 2022 when Murdoch reportedly informed Hall of his decision to end their union via email.
Speaking about the dissolution of her marriage, Hall, 69, described the experience as “always traumatic.” She further elaborated on the complexities of post-divorce relationships, stating, “Not all exes you want to be friends with, do you? Some people aren’t friendly.” Hall contrasted this with relationships involving children, noting the importance of maintaining civility. She indicated that with Murdoch, as they had no children together, the expectation for continued friendship was different.
Enduring Friendships and a New Chapter
In contrast to her relationship with Murdoch, Hall maintains a friendly rapport with her first husband, Sir Mick Jagger. The two share four children: daughters Elizabeth and Georgia May, and sons James and Gabriel. Their enduring connection was highlighted during a recent interview where Hall described Jagger as a “brilliant” grandfather, with all their children affectionate towards his fiancée, choreographer Melanie Hamrick, 38.
Hall recounted how Jagger and Hamrick, along with their son Dev, frequently join family gatherings for Sunday lunch, describing them as “so sweet.” She characterized Jagger as a “great diplomat” and observed that “all the kids love each other. All the mothers of the kids love each other. It’s just odd, isn’t it? Just worked out that way.”
The model and actress, who was famously together with Jagger for 22 years before their divorce in 1999 following the birth of his child with another model, harbors no ill will towards him. She stressed that their current relationship is one of friendship.
Embracing Independence and Solitude
Currently, Jerry Hall is content with her single status and expressed a lack of desire to pursue new romantic relationships. “I’m very, very happy. I don’t feel I’m missing anything,” she stated. While she enjoys male company, Hall declared, “I don’t actually think I’ll ever want to live with one of them again.” She is not believed to have dated since her separation from Rupert Murdoch.
The circumstances surrounding her divorce from Murdoch were particularly jarring. Hall reportedly received the email ending their marriage on the afternoon of June 6, 2022, while recovering from illness at her London home. The message, which began with “Jerry, sadly I’ve decided to call an end to our marriage,” indicated that legal representatives would be in contact.
Settlement Details and Unexpected Discoveries
The divorce was finalized in August 2022. A clause in the settlement reportedly prohibited Hall from sharing story ideas related to the HBO series “Succession,” which is loosely based on the Murdoch family. Upon moving into the Oxfordshire home she received as part of the divorce settlement, Hall discovered that 32 surveillance cameras were still transmitting footage to the headquarters of Murdoch’s media company.
She enlisted the help of Mick Jagger, who reportedly sent his security consultant to disable the cameras. The period following her divorce also saw significant media attention on Murdoch’s subsequent relationships. Within months of their separation, newspapers published images of him on holiday with a new girlfriend, Ann Lesley Smith. Murdoch had proposed to Smith in March 2023, presenting her with a substantial diamond ring, but the wedding was reportedly called off two weeks later due to his discomfort with her outspoken evangelical views.
Murdoch subsequently married Elena Zhukova, a retired Russian biologist, in June 2024, marking his fifth marriage.
