Manchester United Eyes Midfield Reinforcements Amid Busy Summer
Manchester United anticipates a significant summer transfer window, with new acquisitions deemed essential. As the squad prepares for Champions League challenges and a push on multiple fronts, the need for midfield reinforcements is particularly acute following Casemiro’s departure. While a deal for Brazilian midfielder Ederson has reportedly been secured, further arrivals are anticipated.
Aurelien Tchouameni Linked With Old Trafford Move
Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni has been a consistent name linked with a move to Manchester United. Reports originating from Spain suggest the 26-year-old French international could depart the Santiago Bernabeu this summer after a four-year tenure. Doubts surrounding his future at the Spanish club were amplified by an on-field altercation with teammate Federico Valverde late last season.
Information indicates that Manchester United representatives have previously met with Tchouameni’s entourage. These discussions reportedly aimed to assess the player’s current situation. Analysis from Spanish publication AS suggests Real Madrid is open to a significant midfield sale as part of their summer squad overhaul under new management. Tchouameni is identified as a potential candidate to generate funds for the club.
Martin Baturina Emerges as Striking Option
Croatia international Martin Baturina has also surfaced as a reported target for the Red Devils. The 23-year-old midfielder registered 34 appearances for Serie A side Como before featuring in the World Cup, where he scored Croatia’s opening goal in their 4-2 defeat to England.
Sources indicate Manchester United is among the Premier League clubs tracking Baturina. Competition for his signature is said to be present, with Aston Villa also showing interest. Furthermore, Leeds United and Bayern Munich have previously been linked with the player. An unnamed club reportedly submitted a £43 million offer for Baturina, which was subsequently rejected by Como. Baturina joined the Italian club from Dinamo Zagreb last year, contributing eight goals and four assists from an attacking midfield role.
The club’s transfer activity is further complicated by interest in West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes, who also features on Manchester United’s radar. Meanwhile, Real Madrid, reportedly interested in Fernandes, has already finalized agreements for full-backs Marc Cucurella and Denzel Dumfries, alongside free agent acquisitions Ibrahima Konate and Bernardo Silva.
