Filmmaker Quentin Tarantino and pop icon Kylie Minogue are set to star together in an upcoming, as-yet-untitled film project.

The collaboration, helmed by Welsh director Jamie Adams, marks a notable shift for both artists, who are primarily recognized for their established careers in directing and music, respectively. While specific plot details remain under wraps, the two were recently observed filming scenes in Porthcawl, Wales. These filming sessions reportedly included sequences for a funeral and a subsequent wake.

Supporting Cast and Previous Work

Joining Tarantino and Minogue in the ensemble are actors Julian Lewis Jones, Craig Russell, Siwan Morris, and Karen Paullada. Paullada shared some glimpses from the set via Instagram, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the production, though she did not feature Tarantino or Minogue in her posts.

In her Instagram caption, Paullada expressed her enjoyment of the filming experience, stating, “Awesome filming with @juleslewisjones @craigrussell1977 @morrissiwan and other legends. All steered and put together by the one and only @jdadams1.” This indicates a positive working relationship with director Jamie Adams.

Tarantino and Minogue have previously collaborated with Adams on the project Only What We Carry, which recently debuted at the Tribeca Festival. That film also featured performances from Simon Pegg, Sofia Boutella, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and Lizzy McAlpine.

Tarantino’s Recent Criticisms and Minogue’s Health

The news of this cinematic pairing comes shortly after Quentin Tarantino shared a critical perspective on contemporary Hollywood cinema. In a recent publication, he described the current film industry as a “flavourless sausage factory,” particularly since the pandemic. He articulated that it has become increasingly difficult for new films to emerge without significant flaws, citing issues such as implausibility, pandering to audiences, miscasting, or simply “stupid shit.” Tarantino suggested that the current landscape of filmmaking inspires more disdain than generosity in him, contrasting the present with past decades.

Among the few recent films he has found enjoyable, Tarantino mentioned West Side Story (2021), Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 1 & 2 (2024), and the upcoming The Rip (2026).

Tarantino is also in the process of preparing a new stage play titled The Popinjay Cavalier, slated for a premiere in London’s West End next year.

Meanwhile, Kylie Minogue recently disclosed in her Netflix documentary series, Kylie, her experience with a second cancer diagnosis in 2021. This followed her initial diagnosis in 2005.
