Anne Hathaway highlights the playful and laid-back attitude she enjoys most when collaborating with Australian actors on film sets. The 43-year-old actress shared these insights during her appearance on Channel Seven’s Sunrise on Wednesday.
Appreciating the Fun-Loving Work Ethic
Hathaway, known for roles alongside Hugh Jackman in the 2012 film Les Misérables and Rebel Wilson in The Hustle, emphasized the unique vibe Australian performers bring to productions.
“I think playfulness,” she explained. “Aussies are very private about taking it seriously… It’s very much ‘have a great time’; the vibe is that nobody takes themselves seriously.”
She noted, however, that this casual demeanor masks a strong commitment to the craft. “Secretly, everyone is taking the work seriously,” Hathaway added.
Collaboration in The Devil Wears Prada 2
Hathaway teams up with veteran Australian actor Patrick Brammall, 50, in the recently released sequel The Devil Wears Prada 2, where he portrays her love interest.
Sydney Sweeney’s Cameo Removed for Creative Flow
Earlier this month, Brammall discussed the decision to cut a cameo by Sydney Sweeney from the final film. The Euphoria star, 28, had filmed a brief role in the opening sequence, but it was excised due to production constraints.
“When putting a film together, things have got to go… and so Sydney Sweeney went! I never met her,” Brammall stated on the No Filter podcast. “It is all for creative reasons and time, that sort of stuff. There were a few scenes that I shot that weren’t in the movie.”
The three-minute scene originally showed Andy Sachs (Hathaway) reuniting with former Runway colleagues Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) and Nigel Kipling (Stanley Tucci) to rescue the magazine from a scandal. They sought assistance from Emily (Emily Blunt), now at Dior, interrupting her while styling Sweeney.
Production sources describe the cut as necessary for structural improvements, though the team appreciated Sweeney’s involvement. The Washington native did not attend the film’s premiere last month. Fans first spotted her on the New York City set in August, sparking speculation about her participation.
