Australia’s prominent outdoor furniture and barbecue retailer, Barbeques Galore, has entered receivership, placing around 500 jobs in jeopardy.
Receivership Details
Receivers from global firm Ankura, including Quentin Olde, Luke Pittorino, and Liam Healey, took control on Thursday morning at the request of the secured creditor. Directors simultaneously appointed Grant Thornton partners Philip Campbell-Wilson, Lisa Gibb, and Matthew Byrnes as voluntary administrators.
Liquidity challenges contributed to the collapse, despite prolonged efforts to secure a buyer. The company now faces potential restructuring or sale.
Business Operations and Impact
Barbeques Galore operates 68 company-owned stores and 27 franchise outlets nationwide. Receivers confirm that stores will maintain normal trading while options are assessed. Franchise operations remain unaffected.
Paid in-store and online orders will be honored. However, gift card redemptions require customers to add $2 in new payment for every $1 of credit.
