Pop Star Becky Hill Celebrates Hometown Venue with National Lottery Partnership
Award-winning singer-songwriter Becky Hill is returning to the very venue that ignited her musical journey over 16 years ago. In a special performance in her hometown of Worcester, the 32-year-old artist will take the stage at The Marrs Bar, a cornerstone of the local music scene.
This event is part of ‘Everywhere At Once,’ a nationwide initiative powered by The National Lottery aimed at celebrating and supporting grassroots music venues. The two-time Brit Award winner, who first performed at The Marrs Bar as a 16-year-old, will headline a sold-out show, marking a significant full-circle moment in her career.
A Full Circle Moment for a Rising Star
From June 26th to 28th, more than 400 grassroots music venues across the country will host a multitude of live performances. These events will showcase both established artists and emerging local talent, highlighting the vibrant ecosystem of live music.
During a recent visit to The Marrs Bar, Hill reflected on the formative experiences of performing in these intimate settings. “At 16, I played my own compositions and had friends and family down to Worcester’s Marrs Bar,” she stated. “In these early days, it was venues like this that allowed a very young me to begin to learn how to perform, sing and play guitar on stage, gaining my confidence & broadening my experience as a teenager.”
Hill expressed her fond memories of this period, emphasizing her gratitude for the opportunities provided by venues like The Marrs Bar. “It saddens me greatly that grassroots venues are at risk as I believe that homegrown music is key to our country’s culture,” she added. “I’m honoured to be working alongside The National Lottery and Music Venue Trust for their Everywhere At Once festival, 16 years later at the same venue but with far more experience!”

This funding supports venues, artists, and community organizations, made possible by the contributions of National Lottery players. This ongoing support is crucial for the survival of grassroots venues, particularly as they face increasing financial challenges despite their immense cultural significance.
‘Everywhere At Once,’ a collaboration with the Music Venue Trust, is set to feature over 2,000 artists nationwide, aiming to create a significant national moment for the grassroots music sector. The festival underscores the importance of preserving these foundational spaces for live music and ensuring that future generations of artists have the same opportunities to develop and thrive.
