Rock icon Bret Michaels, 63, has revealed he underwent emergency surgery to address a severe kidney stone issue that caused him considerable pain during recent performances. The frontman for the band Poison shared that he pushed through three concerts while experiencing ‘intense’ discomfort before seeking medical intervention.
Emergency Surgery for Debilitating Kidney Stone
Michaels disclosed the health ordeal in a social media update, explaining that a week of excruciating pain from a kidney stone that refused to pass preceded his hospitalization. Despite the agony, the singer was determined not to disappoint his fans, performing as scheduled. His solo tour, featuring hits from Poison, included a July 4th show in Charleston, West Virginia, a concert in Grantville, Pennsylvania, on July 11th, and a private performance at Fairchild Air Force Base in Spokane, Washington, on July 18th.
Following the Spokane concert on July 18th, the pain escalated significantly, leading to his immediate admission to the hospital. “The operation has been done and is complete & I’m out of post-op recovery,” Michaels informed his followers, expressing his commitment to recovery and a swift return to the stage. “I’m doing everything within my power to feel better and continue playing great shows for great fans when I’ve got a complete clean bill of health.”
