Two amateur thieves, Stephen Bradley, 56, and David Oakley, 48, have been sentenced to prison for a bungled armed robbery at a convenience store in New Mills, Derbyshire. The pair were captured on CCTV footage attempting to disguise their identities by using fake Liverpool accents and squabbling amongst themselves during the heist. Despite their efforts, they were apprehended within days, with police locating them at an address just minutes from the store they targeted.
A Failed Disguise and a Bungled Heist
The incident occurred at Maddy’s Store, where Bradley and Oakley entered the premises. One of the robbers was seen wearing a Manchester United scarf, a symbol associated with a rival football club to Liverpool, wrapped around his head, further undermining their attempt at a convincing disguise. The duo demanded cash from the till, ultimately making off with approximately £4,000 worth of cigarettes, £200 in cash, and nine bottles of Jack Daniel’s whiskey.
