Leonardo DiCaprio stars in the acclaimed comedy-drama Catch Me If You Can, directed by Steven Spielberg, which streams on Netflix for just a few more weeks before departing on June 3, 2026.

Plot and Cast

The film follows a teenage runaway who impersonates various professionals and forges checks, drawing the pursuit of FBI agent Carl Hanratty, portrayed by Tom Hanks. Adapted from Frank Abagnale Jr.’s semi-autobiographical book, it chronicles his claimed million-dollar crimes before age 19. The ensemble includes Amy Adams, Christopher Walken, and Martin Sheen.

Awards and Critical Reception

Released in 2002, the movie earned Spielberg a Critics’ Choice Award for Best Director in 2003 and Walken a BAFTA for Best Actor in a Supporting Role. DiCaprio received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama.

It holds an 8.1/10 rating on IMDb and 96% on Rotten Tomatoes. Netflix highlighted it as a “cinematic masterpiece” on social media last year, sharing a clip from the film.

Critics praise the “impeccable cast and performances,” calling it one of Spielberg’s best. One Rotten Tomatoes reviewer noted: “Love this film so much. The writing is absolutely incredible and fits hand in hand with a phenomenal story that at some parts feel unbelievable.” Another viewer described it as a classic: “So much fun, I could watch this movie again and again, wonderfully charming and with such lovable personalities, DiCaprio, Spielberg, and Hanks work their absolute best make this movie a classic.”

While a few viewers found it “boring,” most acknowledge not finishing it.

Box Office Success

The film grossed $164.6 million in North America and $352.1 million worldwide.

Viewers have until June 3, 2026, to catch this Spielberg-DiCaprio-Hanks collaboration on Netflix.
