The road the place the sky meets the ocean is looking to the brand new “Moana.”

The primary teaser trailer for the live-action Disney movie launched Monday options star Catherine Laga’aia singing just a few strains of her character’s signature “I Need” track because the footage presents glimpses of the island and other people of Motunui, the demigod Maui, the seafaring Kakamora and Moana’s clumsy rooster Heihei.

“I’m a lady who loves my island and the woman who loves the ocean,” Laga’aia as Moana sings within the opening moments of the trailer. “It calls me.”

Followers of the unique animated film will acknowledge the scene of a younger Moana taking part in with the ocean after seeing a seashell on the shore. Talking of the 2016 movie, Dwayne Johnson, who voiced the shapeshifter demigod and hero of males within the animated “Moana,” may also painting the live-action model of the conceited trickster. You’re welcome.

Directed by Thomas Kail, the live-action remake will observe Moana, who desires of being a wayfinder and exploring the ocean. She leaves Motonui in quest of Maui and the Coronary heart of Te Fiti to assist save her folks.

Along with Laga’aia and Johnson, the “Moana” solid contains John Tui as Moana’s father, Chief Tui; Frankie Adams as her mom, Sina; and Rena Owen as Gramma Tala.

The trailer ends with Laga’aia triumphantly singing, “I’m Moana.”

The animated “Moana,” with Hawaiian actor Auliʻi Cravalho within the title position, grossed $643.3 million worldwide throughout its preliminary run. Its follow-up “Moana 2” was considered one of three movies launched in 2024 that crossed the $1-billion mark on the worldwide field workplace. Cravalho serves as one of many govt producers of the live-action movie, together with Kail, Scott Sheldon and Charles Newirth.

The live-action “Moana” will hit theaters July 10.
