Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) head and new overseer of DC police Terry Cole outlined the Trump administration’s “unified effort” for decreasing violent crime within the nation’s capital after assembly with the police chief Tuesday. 

“We can’t afford to show a blind eye,” Cole instructed “The Story.” “We have now large cooperation, large intel sharing, and what’s most encouraging, the police are trying ahead to doing their job once more.”

President Donald Trump federalized Washington, DC’s Metropolitan Police Division (MPD) Monday, enabling federal companies and the Nationwide Guard to oversee native police however not make arrests themselves.

Cole touted the arrests that adopted Trump’s “Liberation Day” announcement.

As Democratic critics of the federal takeover cite statistics of violent crime being at a “30-year low” within the nation’s capital, Cole insists folks “don’t really feel secure,” and law enforcement officials “don’t really feel empowered.”

It’s “irritating” for police to return throughout repeat youth offenders with weapons, Cole lamented.
