Business leader Hamish McLennan and his wife, Lucinda, have listed their Darling Point mansion for sale with a price guide exceeding $36 million. The couple purchased the four-bedroom, five-bathroom property in 2023 for $29.25 million from Olympic gold medallist and recruitment executive Mark Kerry and his interior designer wife, Lynda.
Downsizing Move
Records indicate the McLennans are downsizing after selling their previous five-bedroom, three-bathroom home in Lavender Bay for $16.85 million in 2023. Hamish McLennan serves as chairman of REA Group, majority-owned by News Corp, chairman of ARN, owner of KIIS FM, and incoming chairman of defence firm DroneShield. His past roles include chairman of Rugby Australia and CEO of Network Ten.
Renovation and Design
The Kerrys acquired the residence in 2020 for $11 million and invested approximately $7 million over three years in a major overhaul led by Lynda Kerry and architect Andrew Barnyak. The transformation created a striking California Mission-style estate boasting northerly harbour views toward Manly and the Heads.
Alison Coopes of her namesake agency, who marketed the property in 2023 with a $35 million guide, noted the extensive rebuild effort.
Property Features
Spanning three levels with around 687 square metres of internal living space, the home features coffered ceilings, a pavilion-style layout, polished floorboards, and lift access. Entertainment areas include sunlit terraces, a secondary kitchen, wine cellar, heated pool and spa, cabana, and fire pit.
Kerrys’ Property Flips
The Kerrys have a track record of successful property investments. A nearby home bought for $8.5 million in 2015 sold five years later for $18 million. Their Rose Bay beachfront house, purchased in 2012 for $5.2 million, fetched $13.8 million after four years.
Elliott Placks and Ashley Bierman of Ray White Double Bay are handling expressions of interest but have not commented on the listing.
