Ice Spice features prominently in a fresh Wendy’s commercial promoting the upgraded spicy chicken sandwich, capitalizing on a recent viral video from a McDonald’s altercation.
The McDonald’s Altercation
CCTV footage from April 15 captures the Bronx rapper at a Los Angeles McDonald’s branch, seated in a booth with a friend. A woman approaches, tries to join them, and starts conversing. Tensions rise quickly as the woman strikes Ice Spice, sparking a brief scuffle. Bystanders attempt to separate them while Ice Spice vaults over adjacent booths to follow the woman outside.
Ice Spice, a former Wendy’s employee, responded lightheartedly on X by posting an edited clip of the footage captioned: “This wouldn’t happen at Wendy’s.”
New Wendy’s Spicy Chicken Promotion
Wendy’s released the ad on May 1, showcasing Ice Spice exclaiming, “I heard Wendy’s upgraded their OG spicy chicken sandwich,” and reacting with “New spicy?!” She rebrands as ‘Ice Spicy,’ sporting a themed chain and fresh tattoo, with her song ‘Thootie’ in the background. The spot concludes: “New upgraded spicy chicken, only at Wendy’s,” followed by “Spice recognize spice.” The commercial appears on Instagram.
Attorney’s Statement on the Incident
Ice Spice’s lawyer, Bradford Cohen, confirmed the unprovoked assault was reported to the Los Angeles Police Department. “We will be pursuing any and all avenues to hold the perpetrators responsible for their actions, including criminally and civilly,” Cohen stated. He further noted, “We are also exploring holding the location responsible for their lack of appropriate security.”
Separately, a leaked October phone call revealed Cardi B threatening physical confrontation with Ice Spice, declaring, “I’ma show y’all!… I’ma beat her the fuck up! I’ma knock her the fuck out! […] I’ma beat her ass.”
