Iron Maiden has extended its gratitude to fans who attended the recent Eddfest, a festival held at Knebworth Park. The heavy metal titans shared a six-minute video offering a behind-the-scenes look at the event, featuring contributions from bassist and band leader Steve Harris. The accompanying message also expressed disappointment over a theft that occurred on the opening night of the festival.

Eddfest Highlights and Disappointment

In their message, Iron Maiden thanked attendees, merchandise partners, and the festival crew. However, they revealed that the Maiden-branded parasols intended for Eddie’s Dive Bar were stolen on the first night. The band conveyed their dismay, stating, “Not cool, guys. Literally.”

The video captures various aspects of the festival experience. Steve Harris is seen exploring the grounds before the public arrived, expressing his amazement at the displays, particularly the museum-like exhibits. “I walked around before the public came in,” Harris commented. “I went around and looked at all the stuff. It’s just amazing. All the museum stuff. It was just outrageous, really.”

The footage also includes moments from the “Infinite Dreams Experience” and the “Unfair Funfair,” alongside live performances and backstage scenes. A notable moment in the video is Harris embracing former Iron Maiden singer Blaze Bayley, highlighting the camaraderie among musicians connected to the band.

Musical Lineup and Harris’s Involvement

Steve Harris revealed that he personally watched the performances of all the bands he selected for the festival’s opening night. This curated lineup featured artists with ties to Iron Maiden, including Blaze Bayley, Stray, Gypsy’s Kiss, Maiden United 1980, Airforce, and Tony Moore’s Awake. Harris’s active participation and enjoyment of the chosen acts underscore his deep engagement with the festival’s musical programming.

Upcoming Tour and Global Reach

Following the success of Eddfest, Iron Maiden is preparing for the North American leg of their “Run For Your Lives” tour. The tour is scheduled to commence in Toronto at the end of August. The band’s extensive itinerary includes subsequent dates across Central and South America, followed by performances in New Zealand, Australia, and Japan. This global tour demonstrates the band’s enduring international appeal and commitment to their worldwide fanbase.

North American Leg Kick-off

The tour begins with multiple dates in Toronto, Canada, before heading to Montreal, Quebec. The band will then play in Harrison, New Jersey, with two dates scheduled, followed by stops in Boston, Massachusetts, and Bristow, Virginia. Further North American dates include Charlotte, North Carolina; Hershey, Pennsylvania; and Louisville, Kentucky, as part of the Louder Than Life Festival. The schedule continues with shows in Shakopee, Minnesota, and Chicago, Illinois, before concluding the initial North American segment in Los Angeles, California, with two performances.

Central and South American Engagement

The tour’s journey then takes Iron Maiden south, starting with dates in San Antonio, Texas, before crossing into Mexico for a performance in Mexico City. The band’s engagement with Latin America includes stops in San Salvador, El Salvador; San Jose, Costa Rica; Bogota, Colombia; Quito, Ecuador; Lima, Peru; and Buenos Aires, Argentina, where they are slated for two shows. The South American leg concludes with multiple performances in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Santiago, Chile.

Oceania and Asian Finale

Concluding their extensive world tour, Iron Maiden will travel to Oceania for dates in Auckland, New Zealand, with two shows planned. They will then proceed to Australia, performing in Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney, before heading to Brisbane for two final Australian concerts. The tour’s grand finale is set to take place in Yokohama, Japan, with two scheduled performances, marking the end of a comprehensive global outreach.

Looking Ahead

Iron Maiden’s continued touring and festival involvement, even amidst minor setbacks like the theft at Eddfest, highlight their dedication to their music and their fans. The band’s ability to connect with their audience, both through their powerful live shows and engaging video content, solidifies their status as one of rock music’s most enduring and beloved acts. The upcoming “Run For Your Lives” tour promises to be another landmark event for the band and their dedicated global following.
