Duggar Relocated to Federal Medical Center Amid Speculation

Convicted sex offender Josh Duggar, 38, has been transferred to a new federal medical facility, prompting questions about his health. Records indicate Duggar was moved on May 29 from the Federal Correctional Institute, Seagoville (FCI Seagoville), where he had been incarcerated for nearly four years, to the Federal Medical Center, Fort Worth (FMC Fort Worth). This facility also houses Joe Exotic, the prominent figure from the Netflix series ‘Tiger King,’ who is currently receiving treatment for prostate cancer.

Attorney Asserts Health Not a Factor in Transfer

Duggar’s attorney, Beau Brindley, has addressed the relocation, stating that the move was a ‘routine’ transfer and not related to any health concerns. Brindley clarified that the Bureau of Prisons does not provide advance notice of prisoner transfers for security reasons, and his office is actively working to verify Duggar’s well-being.

FMC Fort Worth Specializes in Inmate Care

The Federal Medical Center in Fort Worth is described as an administrative security federal medical center with a detention center, equipped to treat inmates for both physical and mental health needs. The facility currently holds 1,573 inmates. Representatives for the Bureau of Prisons have declined to comment on Duggar’s specific health status, citing privacy laws.

Duggar’s Sentence and Release Date

Josh Duggar is serving a prison sentence of approximately 12 and a half years following his 2021 conviction for receiving and possessing child sexual abuse material. According to Bureau of Prisons data, he has seven years remaining on his sentence, with a projected release date of February 2, 2033.

Recent Legal Setbacks for Duggar

The transfer comes as Duggar recently faced a legal setback. A judge denied his motion to vacate his conviction, citing a missed deadline and a lack of credibility in his explanation for the delay. U.S. District Judge Timothy L. Brooks described Duggar’s claims as a ‘sequential chain of events that defies common sense,’ likening it to a ‘magic bullet theory.’

Legal Troubles for Younger Brother

This development follows recent legal issues for Josh Duggar’s younger brother, Joseph Duggar, 31, who faces child molestation charges stemming from an alleged incident in 2020. He is currently out on a $600,000 bond. Officials stated that during a vacation in Panama City Beach, Florida, he allegedly manipulated a victim’s underwear and grazed her genitals while under a blanket.

Family History of Controversy

The Duggar family gained national attention through their reality television series, which began in 2008. News of Josh Duggar’s past molestation of five young girls in the early 2000s led to the cancellation of their TLC show in 2015. In a Facebook post from May 21, 2015, parents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar described the period as one of the most difficult times for their family, stating they had tried to teach their son right from wrong and sought deeper faith in response to his actions.

Joe Exotic’s Incarceration

Joe Exotic, whose real name is Joseph Maldonado-Passage, gained widespread notoriety through the Netflix docuseries ‘Tiger King.’ He is serving a 21-year sentence for his 2019 conviction in a murder-for-hire plot and numerous wildlife law violations. He is currently undergoing treatment for prostate cancer at FMC Fort Worth.
