Kathryn Harrold, the 75-year-old actress renowned for her leading roles in 1980s classics, steps out for a rare public appearance in Los Angeles.

Low-Key Outing in LA

Harrold opts for a casual look during her low-profile stroll, wearing a checked long-sleeved button-down shirt tucked into black linen trousers paired with sandals. She styles her gray hair loose and embraces a natural, makeup-free appearance.

Iconic Role in Steve McQueen’s Final Film

Harrold gains fame for her starring turn opposite Hollywood legend Steve McQueen in his last movie, The Hunter (1980). She portrays Dotty, the pregnant girlfriend of McQueen’s bounty hunter character, Ralph ‘Papa’ Thorson, who faces threats from a past criminal while bracing for fatherhood.

McQueen battles terminal cancer during production, defies U.S. doctors’ advice to undergo surgery in Mexico, and passes from a heart attack at age 50 shortly after the procedure.

1980s Film Highlights

The 1980s mark Harrold’s peak with lead roles in key films, including Arnold Schwarzenegger’s love interest in Raw Deal (1986). Other standout projects include Modern Romance (1981), The Pursuit of D.B. Cooper (1981), Yes, Giorgio (1982), and The Sender (1982).

Television Career

Harrold launches her career on daytime soaps and short-lived dramas before returning to TV later. She features as a regular on NBC’s period drama I’ll Fly Away alongside Regina Taylor and Sam Waterson. From 1992 to 1998, she plays Francine Sanders on The Larry Sanders Show.

Guest spots follow on popular series like The Practice, CSI: NY, and Desperate Housewives across three episodes from 2004 to 2006. Her final acting role spans four episodes of the comedy Greek from 2007 to 2011.

Personal Life

Harrold marries MSNBC anchor Lawrence O’Donnell in 1994; the couple divorces in 2013. They share one daughter, Elizabeth.
