Singer Katie Melua, 41, has announced she is expecting her second child. The artist revealed the heartwarming news on Friday through a captivating photograph showcasing her baby bump. The image was taken during a recent trip to Iceland, where she performed and enjoyed some downtime.
In the picture, Melua is seen floating in the iconic Blue Lagoon, clad in a vibrant red swimsuit. The serene setting served as the backdrop for her announcement, capturing a moment of personal joy amidst her travels.

This upcoming arrival marks Melua’s second child. She is already a devoted mother to her son, Sandro, who is now three years old. Sandro was born in December 2022, a time following Melua’s candid discussions about her past anxieties regarding fertility and the possibility of becoming a mother.
During her Icelandic excursion, Melua shared her experiences, writing, “Iceland you are so spectacular, I’m so keen to visit again. We were invited for a majestic concert at the Harpa Concert Hall. We soaked in the Blue Lagoon… Stood on solidified lava from a recent volcanic eruption, lupins were out in full force, and what a church (Hallgrímskirkja, the iconic Reykjavik landmark featured in the film When the Light Breaks), every bit as striking in person. Thank you, Reykjavik.”

Reflecting on becoming a mother, the singer shared, “I wanted to have a baby from about the age of 26 and I had him when I was 38, so that’s a good 12 years of worrying. There was a period of trying and that didn’t work out. I thought fertility was maybe an issue.”
She further elaborated on settling into motherhood, describing Sandro as “the biggest sunshine” in her life. Despite her partner’s privacy, Melua has expressed immense joy in their relationship. She admitted to doubts about finding lasting love after her divorce from Toseland, even contemplating if “monogamy isn’t for everyone.” However, meeting her current partner brought a profound sense of completeness.
“I slid into the best years and times of my life,” she stated. “He’s an incredible person, super down-to-earth and super relaxed and chilled. It’s been amazing. It’s difficult to talk about it because you can sound really cringe but it has been magical and every day gets better and better. I wanted to capture the moment. First my uncertainty and then how very natural our love feels.”

The birth of Sandro was announced via Instagram in December, accompanied by touching photos of her son’s feet and a glimpse of his face. Melua expressed her profound gratitude and the overwhelming nature of new parenthood.
Her announcement read: “It’s been the greatest month. We’re now the parents to Sandro, the whole thing feels like a dream, never felt a love this strong. But also the exhaustion is real! I’m so grateful to my partner, and have jaw dropping levels of respect for single parents. But the cuddles are something else.
