Khamzat Chimaev Appears Significantly Heavier for RAF Debut
The main event for RAF 10 is now officially set following the completion of the weigh-ins in St. Louis, Missouri. Khamzat Chimaev and Dillon Danis are scheduled to face off tonight at the Chaifetz Arena, promising a strong conclusion to a busy card for the wrestling promotion.
Concerns were previously raised by observers regarding Chimaev’s physical condition during his last MMA appearance, where he suffered his first professional loss. However, for this upcoming bout, contested at a catchweight, Chimaev appeared considerably more at ease and relaxed while posing for photographs compared to his previous weigh-in events.
Weight Considerations for the Main Event
Both Khamzat Chimaev and Dillon Danis successfully made weight for their main event confrontation at RAF 10. The fight will take place at light heavyweight, with the division limit being 205 pounds, a move up in weight for both competitors.
Footage indicates Chimaev weighed in at 203.4 pounds for his initial match under the wrestling promotion’s banner. While he has not competed at this weight class in mixed martial arts, he previously participated in a wrestling match against Jack Hermansson at a catchweight of 187 pounds.
Danis met the light heavyweight limit precisely, tipping the scales at 205 pounds. This marks his second appearance for the promotion, and he aims to rebound from a previous loss to Colby Covington earlier this year. Reports had suggested that a challenging weight cut in his last fight was partly due to preparations for a potential move to light heavyweight, beginning his training camp at a higher weight before being instructed to defend his belt at 185 pounds.
Co-Main Event Fighters Also Make Weight
The participants in the co-main event also successfully made weight without incident. Arman Tsarukyan registered 169 pounds on the scale, while Tony Ferguson came in slightly lighter at 155.6 pounds.
