Prominent radio personality Kyle Sandilands is reportedly open to reaching a settlement with the Australian Radio Network (ARN), aiming to conclude his ongoing legal dispute sooner rather than later. The 55-year-old star is currently seeking up to $88 million from ARN to compensate for the remainder of his terminated $100 million, 10-year contract.

Potential for Extended Litigation

Sources suggest that Sandilands may now be willing to accept a lesser amount, recognizing that his legal challenge could potentially span several years. It is understood that even if the case proceeds to court in October as anticipated, a judicial decision is unlikely before early 2027. Furthermore, should Sandilands prevail, ARN would retain the right to appeal, further prolonging the proceedings.

Desire to Return to Airwaves

Insiders indicate that Sandilands is keen to resolve the conflict swiftly to facilitate his return to radio. This could involve a new show, potentially titled ‘Kyle Sandilands Live,’ either with ARN or another network. A key argument in his legal proceedings is that as a public figure, prolonged absence from the airwaves could lead to a decline in his profile.

ARN’s Motivation for Settlement

The Australian Radio Network also appears motivated to find a swift resolution, as the company’s share price remains vulnerable. As a publicly traded entity, ARN faces scrutiny from investors, with shareholders reportedly eager for a settlement to remove the uncertainty hanging over the company. Following the axing of ‘The Kyle & Jackie O Show’ in early March, ARN’s share price experienced a significant drop, though it has since shown some recovery.

Support for Former Staff

In related developments, Sandilands has personally taken steps to support several former staff members from ‘The Kyle & Jackie O Show’ who were made redundant by ARN. He has confirmed hiring content assistant Alfie Laguzza, audio producer Dean ‘Hulk’ Royston, and producer Eliza Brown to work at his media company, King Kyle. Sandilands stated that these individuals are now working at his office and appear happier.

‘I take care of my people, and I’ve got their backs,’ Sandilands commented, emphasizing his commitment to his team. While Dean and Alfie are now working for Kyle, Eliza’s current involvement was not specified. Alfie, who was already employed by Sandilands’ company, is expected to increase his hours.

An ARN spokesperson noted that the company had strived to retain as many employees as possible after the conclusion of ‘The Kyle & Jackie O Show,’ but acknowledged that a limited number of roles could not be accommodated within the business.
