Lady Gabriella Windsor, daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, has vacated her London flat more than two years after her husband Thomas Kingston’s death. The 45-year-old royal, known as Ella to family and friends, handled the move personally with help from a close friend.

Hands-On Relocation with Aristocratic Friend

Windsor carried boxes, furniture, soft furnishings, an antique chair, and bags to a waiting van, opting out of professional movers. Her friend, Lady Eloise Waymouth—daughter of the late society photographer Lord Patrick Lichfield—assisted throughout. The pair chatted amiably and shared laughs, including a moment of hilarity when a passing Chesil Speedster 2 car revealed a dog in the front seat wearing driving goggles. Windsor notably did not wear her wedding ring during the process.

Tragic Loss of Thomas Kingston

Financier Thomas Kingston, 45, died in February 2024 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his parents’ £3 million Cotswolds home. An inquest determined he had taken a mix of anti-depressants and sleeping pills in the weeks prior, amid struggles at his investment firm facing £8 million in debt. These medications contributed to severe adverse effects.

Lady Gabriella, emotional at the hearing, emphasized: “Anyone taking pills such as these needs to be made aware of the side effects to prevent future deaths. If this could happen to Tom, it could happen to anyone.”

Kingston left no will, so his £660,000 estate passed directly to his wife.

Life and Marriage

The couple wed in May 2019 at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, with the Queen and Prince Philip among the guests. Lady Gabriella frequently described herself as fortunate to have found someone special. After Kingston’s death, she moved in with her parents at their Kensington Palace apartment.
