Dubai Prison Inmates Report ‘Strange Behaviour’ and Boasting from Katie Price’s Partner
Inside Al-Awir prison, a facility once known for its strict regime, a curious situation is reportedly unfolding involving Lee Andrews, the partner of former glamour model Katie Price. Incarcerated individuals within the facility have shared accounts of Andrews’ conduct and his alleged claims of financial support from Price.
Head Shaving and Alleged Kinahan Connection
Prisoners are subjected to mandatory head shaving upon entry to prevent the spread of lice, a procedure that has reportedly affected Andrews. An individual within the prison, speaking anonymously, commented that Andrews was already experiencing hair loss, suggesting the shaving might have been a practical measure. The same source also noted Andrews’ claims of a close connection with alleged Irish gang boss Daniel Kinahan, stating that Andrews has boasted to Price about speaking Gaelic with Kinahan to circumvent guards’ understanding.
However, other inmates express skepticism regarding the depth of any relationship between Andrews and Kinahan. “Any interactions between Lee and Daniel have been fleeting at most,” an insider stated. “Whatever he’s telling Katie isn’t the full truth.” This sentiment is echoed by some who have observed Andrews’ interactions, describing his stories as inconsistent and his behavior as unusual.
Inmate Accounts of Arrest and Shifting Narratives
Upon arrival, new inmates undergo a 24-hour isolation period followed by a strip search. reports within Al-Awir suggest Andrews has made a notable impression on fellow prisoners with his accounts of his arrest. Some inmates claim Andrews has bragged about being apprehended during an alleged arms deal near the Abu Dhabi border. He has also reportedly described being held in a dark room for days without seeing daylight.
These narratives, however, have not been universally accepted. “Other guys in here have said they heard other stories from Lee,” an incarcerated individual shared. “He has quite the mouth on him. Not everyone thinks he is credible, and some of us have been sharing notes about his stories as they keep changing. He’s a strange man.”
Prisoner Amenities and Financial Claims
Despite the circumstances, Al-Awir prison offers certain amenities. Inmates have access to a weekly supermarket for snacks and cigarettes, and a system for loading money onto cards for phone usage and additional purchases. Initially, Andrews reportedly lacked the funds for phone calls.
An inmate source revealed, “He was bragging that Katie was going to give him cash, but no one knows if she has or not.” The prison also provides opportunities for inmates to earn money through various tasks, such as cleaning, laundry, sewing, and crafting items. A black market also reportedly operates within the facility.
Daily Life and Entertainment
For Andrews, life behind bars includes access to a kitchen and televisions. The prison features a gym, which Andrews reportedly uses regularly. With four televisions available, disputes over remotes can occasionally arise but are quickly managed by guards. Sports, particularly football, are a significant activity, with games organized in the courtyard, though Andrews’ participation remains uncertain.
Regarding the food, reports indicate that meals primarily consist of chicken and rice, with limited variety. Access to the prison supermarket is seen as crucial for obtaining different food options.
Release Prospects and Financial Hurdles
Andrews has reportedly made phone calls to Katie Price from prison and is understood to believe he can access the approximately £140,000 required for his release. However, well-placed sources suggest that even if the funds were available, the Dubai legal system’s pace could delay his freedom for weeks. “Lee isn’t going to be able to get his hands on £140,000, and if Katie has said she’s not giving him the money, he’s going to struggle to raise that kind of cash,” a source commented.
The same source added, “This is a man who didn’t have a penny when he came in. He racked up debts using other people’s ‘punch’ to make calls. There is no way he is coming out anytime soon. And even if by some kind of miracle he did get the funds, it would be weeks before he is released.”
Andrews’ Demeanor in Custody
After nearly four weeks of incarceration, Andrews is described as remaining surprisingly optimistic. “Most blokes like Lee have that swagger when they first walk in,” an insider observed. “Often it gets chipped away, but Lee is giving off this wheeler-dealer bravado. He’s got more front than Harrods.””
