Lewis Capaldi expresses gratitude to Taylor Swift for featuring him as a photographer in her star-studded music video for ‘Opalite.’
The 36-year-old singer releases the Nineties-themed video, drawing cameos from fellow guests on last year’s Graham Norton Show: Lewis Capaldi, Domhnall Gleeson, Cillian Murphy, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Greta Lee. Scottish singer Lewis, 29, shares snaps from the shoot on Instagram, captioning them: ‘Thank you for having me @taylorswift ❤️x.’
Video Storyline and Celebrity Roles
The video stars Domhnall Gleeson, 42, as Taylor’s love interest. It depicts their surreal romances—Domhnall with a cactus and Taylor with a rock—before a ‘magical’ Opalite spray bottle unites them. Graham Norton, 62, promotes a rival spray, while Cillian Murphy, 49, appears in an Opalite advert. Greta Lee, 42, and Jodie Turner-Smith, 39, feature on retro TV screens, with Lewis capturing photos of Taylor and Domhnall.
Inspiration from Graham Norton Appearance
Taylor reveals the concept struck her during her October BBC1 Graham Norton Show episode, promoting her album The Life of a Showgirl, which includes ‘Opalite.’ Domhnall’s light-hearted joke about starring in a Taylor Swift video sparks the idea. One week later, she sends him a script casting him as the lead, inviting other guests including Graham.
‘I had this thought that it would be wild if all of our fellow guests on the Graham Norton show that night, including Graham himself, could be a part of it too,’ Taylor writes on Instagram. ‘Like a school group project but for adults and it isn’t mandatory. I had more fun than I ever imagined. Made new friends, metaphors, and fashion choices.’
The episode airs October 3, coinciding with the album release. Taylor displays her engagement ring and discusses wedding plans with Travis Kelce, saying, ‘You’ll know. I want to do the album stuff first, and the wedding is what happens after in terms of planning. I think it will be fun to plan.’
Fan Reactions and Fashion Highlights
Fans rave over the ’90s retro aesthetic, vintage outfits, and scenes like Taylor swinging with a rock amid aerobic dancers. A standout item is her ivory sweatshirt featuring a cat clinging to a tree limb. One fan posts on X, ‘I need this sweatshirt right now, it is meowfully wonderful, I am obsessed.’ Another adds, ‘I am going cats*** over this top, please tell me universe where to buy it ASAP.’
Taylor, a known cat enthusiast, owns Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson, and Benjamin Button—named after characters from Grey’s Anatomy, Law & Order: SVU, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
