Reality TV Couple Reportedly Part Ways After Months of Speculation
Jeff Gobbels and Rhi Disljenkovic, a couple who captivated audiences on the popular reality series Married At First Sight, have reportedly ended their relationship. For a period, they appeared to defy the show’s notorious “curse,” presenting a united front. However, recent weeks have seen the pair quietly drift apart, leading to their decision to separate.
Sources Indicate Relationship Strain and Living Apart
Sources close to the couple suggest that Gobbels and Disljenkovic had already been living separately for several weeks before making the final decision to end their relationship. An insider revealed that the romance reportedly began to falter as Gobbels allegedly reduced his efforts within the relationship. “Jeff was not putting in any effort with Rhi. They stopped going out on dates,” a friend commented. The same source indicated that the breakup was not acrimonious, and that mutual care still exists between the two.
Social Media Activity Fuels Breakup Rumors
Signs of distress had also begun to surface on social media platforms. The couple, last seen together online in March, have unfollowed each other on Instagram. Reports suggest Disljenkovic has also unliked recent posts from Gobbels and removed tags from photographs featuring the pair. Gobbels has similarly deleted several pinned photos of them together from his own account.
Further fueling speculation, Disljenkovic shared an Instagram post approximately one week prior, outlining elements that had “changed her life.” A particular line drew significant attention: “Choosing relationships that feel calm and safe. Not confusing inconsistency or mixed signals for love.”
Online Critics Question Relationship Authenticity
Online commentators have speculated that the couple’s relationship may not have been genuine from its inception, suggesting they maintained a public facade to secure joint brand deals. “Maybe their contractual obligations were over. Pretty sure they kept up the act for their publicity,” one user theorized on Reddit. Another commented, “Funny it came very close to 12 months after their season finished. Almost like they had an year long contract or something??” A third echoed these sentiments, stating, “This relationship was strictly PR. And I have to agree… it was all too coincidental for my liking.”
The Couple’s Unique Reunion on the Show
Gobbels and Disljenkovic first met in 2023, dating briefly before their relationship ended. They were reportedly surprised to find themselves matched on the 2025 season of Married At First Sight. In January of that year, Disljenkovic shared her astonishment at meeting Gobbels at the altar, realizing he was an ex-partner. “It was surreal. You sign up for an experiment where you’re marrying a stranger. And then… I married someone who I’d already dated! A pretty crazy experience,” she stated at the time.
Disljenkovic recalled her shock upon seeing Gobbels at the end of the aisle. “I think the look on my face and me stopping at the end of the aisle says it all,” she added. “I remember thinking, ‘How is this going to work?’ That was what made me stop… I was shocked to see him standing there!”
Moving In and Early Bliss
In May 2025, the couple took a significant step by moving in together. At the time, they revealed they had not yet experienced their first argument. Disljenkovic spoke about their harmonious domestic life, stating that living together had strengthened their bond. “I know we did live together in the experiment, but [moving in together outside the experiment] really just cemented our strong relationship,” she told a publication. Gobbels described the decision as a “big” moment for their relationship.
