Manchester United’s successful 2025 signings set a high bar for this summer’s transfer window. Outgoing players could prove just as crucial as new arrivals. A recent draw against Bournemouth dented top-four hopes in the Premier League, but Michael Carrick’s team stays in strong contention for Champions League qualification next season. Securing a return to Europe’s top competition could lock in Carrick’s permanent role.

Napoli Targets Four United Players for Cut-Price Deals

Scott McTominay’s 2024 move from his boyhood club to Napoli delivered excellent value for the Serie A side. Now, they aim to repeat the strategy by targeting up to four Manchester United players whose contracts expire this summer. Antonio Conte’s team eyes Harry Maguire, Casemiro, Tyrell Malacia, and Tom Heaton.

Among them, Maguire and Casemiro play key roles in Carrick’s current setup. Casemiro has confirmed his free transfer exit this summer. Maguire, aged 33, negotiates a short-term extension at Old Trafford, potentially halving his salary to stay. A fresh start in Naples might appeal, however.

With six months left on their deals, Napoli can negotiate pre-contracts now. McTominay and Rasmus Hojlund, currently on loan at Napoli, highlight the benefits of Italian moves.

Alphonso Davies Linked as Left-Back Replacement

Should Malacia depart for Napoli or elsewhere, Alphonso Davies emerges as a prime left-back candidate. The Canadian international misses most of Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich season due to fitness issues, including an ACL injury.

Manchester United seeks competition for Luke Shaw, who battles recurring injuries but remains the preferred choice when fit. Diogo Dalot shifts to right-back under Carrick, while Patrick Dorgu covers the left, though his long-term role may be more advanced.

Davies, one year into a contract running until 2030, attracts genuine interest. Bayern could sell for the right offer.
