Oscar Piastri emerges as a prime candidate for a major Formula 1 team switch to Red Bull, driven by reports that his manager, Mark Webber, grows dissatisfied with conditions at McLaren.

Potential Swap Deal Gains Traction

Speculation intensifies around Piastri’s future amid uncertainty over Max Verstappen’s position at Red Bull. A possible exchange deal surfaces following confirmation that Verstappen’s long-time race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase, joins McLaren by season’s end.

F1 analyst Jessica Yates predicts Piastri could land at Red Bull. “I don’t think it will be a straight swap but I could see Oscar Piastri ending up at Red Bull,” Yates states. “Mark Webber is a shrewd operator with very close connections to that team. If rumors circulate, something likely brews behind the scenes.”

Yates adds that McLaren appears to prioritize Lando Norris, signaling potential challenges for Piastri depending on this season’s outcomes.

Montoya Weighs In on Webber’s Influence

Former F1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya sheds light on Webber’s stance. “Mark Webber is not happy the way things are going for Oscar at McLaren,” Montoya reveals. “Piastri would find a seat anywhere. A straight swap with Max makes sense, given Webber’s history racing for Red Bull.”

Montoya questions whether McLaren would meet Verstappen’s salary demands but deems the move logical.

Piastri Affirms Commitment to McLaren

Despite the buzz, Piastri expresses satisfaction with McLaren during a recent podcast appearance. He confirms no resentment after teammate Lando Norris claimed the F1 championship last year.

Piastri voices optimism about the team and car, even after a tough season start, bolstered by podium finishes in his latest two races.
