Former F1 Driver Ralf Schumacher Weds Etienne Bousquet-Cassagne in Saint-Tropez
Veteran Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher, 50, has exchanged vows with his partner Etienne Bousquet-Cassagne, 36, in a picturesque ceremony held in Saint-Tropez over the weekend. The union took place just 19 months after Schumacher publicly came out as gay.
Ex-Wife’s Comment Sparks Discussion
Ralf Schumacher’s ex-wife, Cora Schumacher, has offered a seemingly congratulatory message that has been interpreted as a veiled jab at her former husband. Addressing the news of the wedding, Cora commented to German publication BILD, “They always say: True love finds a way. In some cases, it just takes a little longer until everyone at the racetrack really knows which way the race is headed. Nevertheless, all the best for your wedding.”
This remark is widely seen as a reference to Schumacher’s sexuality, particularly given their 13-year marriage and shared son, David. The relationship between Ralf and Cora has reportedly been strained since their separation, with Cora previously expressing hurt, stating she had “wasted her best years” on him and even burning her wedding dress.
Cora and her current partner, Steven Bo Bekendam, have publicly stated their happiness for the couple, with Cora adding, “Steven and I wish Ralf and Etienne all the best and much happiness.” However, her recent comment suggests lingering sentiment.
Lavish Ceremony and Celebration
New photographs from the wedding day reveal a lavish affair. Ralf Schumacher and Etienne Bousquet-Cassagne, both clad in navy suits with bright blue ties, were married at the Saint-Tropez Town Hall. Ralf’s 24-year-old son, David, served as his best man, while Bousquet-Cassagne was supported by his mother, Helene.
The ceremony was an intimate gathering of close friends and family. Following the vows, the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed a celebratory cruise on the Gulf of Saint-Tropez aboard a speedboat once owned by Elton John.
The reception featured a grand wedding cake adorned with sparklers and surrounded by towers of macarons. Guests embraced a white theme for the celebration, participating in the first dance and enjoying the festivities.
