Sephora Set to Launch First Scottish Stores This Summer
Global beauty giant Sephora has announced the eagerly anticipated opening dates for its inaugural Scottish locations in Edinburgh and Glasgow, promising local shoppers a vibrant beauty experience. The Edinburgh store, situated in the St James Quarter, is slated to open its doors on Thursday, July 9. Following closely, the Glasgow outlet at Silverburn Shopping Centre will welcome customers beginning Thursday, August 13.
Sephora characterizes its store launches as significant, community-focused events, often featuring entertainment, unique queue experiences, and special offerings. The brand affirms that its first Scottish stores will uphold this tradition.
Expanding Reach Across the UK
This expansion into Scotland marks a notable step for the retailer, occurring three years after its initial UK store debut in London. Sarah Boyd, Sephora UK managing director, expressed enthusiasm for this milestone. “This summer marks a major milestone in Sephora UK’s journey as we continue to bring our unique beauty experience to more communities across the country,” Boyd stated. “We’re incredibly excited to be opening our first stores in Scotland, giving beauty lovers access to some of the world’s most sought-after brands and exclusive products for the very first time. We can’t wait to welcome customers through our doors and celebrate what promises to be a true Sephora summer.”
Exclusive Brands and Innovative Technology
Shoppers in Scotland will gain direct access to popular brands such as rhode, Haus Labs, and Makeup by Mario, alongside exclusive Sephora UK products. Additionally, these new locations will be among the first to feature Sephora’s advanced beauty scan technology, designed to provide personalized product recommendations from staff.
Founded in Limoges, France, in 1969, Sephora has grown into a global powerhouse with over 3,200 physical stores worldwide, complemented by robust e-commerce and digital platforms. The upcoming Edinburgh and Glasgow stores will launch concurrently with new, smaller-format “boutique” stores in London during July.
Retail Destinations Embrace New Beauty Hub
Anne Ledgerwood, estate director for the St James Quarter, hailed the opening as a pivotal moment for Edinburgh. “Securing such an iconic global beauty brand for its Scottish debut reflects its position as the country’s leading retail destination and builds on the strength of our already diverse beauty offer,” Ledgerwood commented. “Excitement is already building ahead of opening, and we’re proud to be introducing Sephora to Scotland for the very first time, bringing an exciting new experience for guests to discover this summer.”
Diarmuid Donohoe, centre manager at Silverburn, echoed the sentiment for Glasgow. “Sephora opening at Silverburn this August is a really exciting moment for beauty lovers in Glasgow and the west of Scotland,” Donohoe said. “Bringing the very best global brands to our community is what drives us, and each new arrival reinforces Silverburn’s position as the go-to destination for beauty, lifestyle and fashion in the city. We know this is one our guests have been waiting for, and we can’t wait to welcome them to the new Sephora store this summer.”
