Shia LaBeouf Marks 40th Birthday with New Girlfriend in New Orleans
Actor Shia LaBeouf celebrated a significant birthday milestone on Thursday in New Orleans, reportedly with his new girlfriend, Nicole Mumphrey. The actor, who recently received a suspended sentence for a bar altercation, spent his 40th birthday alongside Mumphrey, whom he has been linked with since earlier this spring. The couple was observed walking hand-in-hand through the city.
LaBeouf was seen wearing a pale pink, patterned short-sleeved button-up shirt paired with black shorts and black Nike Cortez sneakers. Mumphrey opted for a white summer dress and brown flip-flops. Their day included dining at a Mexican restaurant followed by a visit to a cookie shop.
Recent Legal Proceedings and Personal Life
This celebration comes shortly after LaBeouf entered a guilty plea to three misdemeanor counts of battery stemming from a bar brawl in February. He was sentenced to two years of probation, alcohol abuse rehabilitation, and mandatory sensitivity and anger management classes. Initially released on his own recognizance following his arrest on February 17, LaBeouf was later required to post a $100,000 bond. Additional charges, including one carrying a $5,000 bond, were added after allegations surfaced that LaBeouf used a homophobic slur during the incident.
In response to the charges and sentence, LaBeouf’s legal representative, Sarah Chervinsky, issued a statement. Chervinsky indicated that the police and district attorney’s investigation supported LaBeouf’s initial account, describing the event as a “minor Mardi Gras bar tussle” with no evidence of bias or prejudice. She added that the state’s decision to press only low-level misdemeanors reflected this. Chervinsky also stated that Mr. LaBeouf accepted accountability for his role in the incident and is now focused on family, work, and future creative endeavors.
Reflections on Marriage and Family
In a wide-ranging interview conducted shortly after the bar incident and published in late February, LaBeouf touched upon the dissolution of his marriage to Mia Goth. The former couple shares a four-year-old daughter, Isabel. LaBeouf explained that he relocated to New Orleans, a city with family ties, following their separation in 2025. He expressed that the situation was not “new heartbreak” but rather an acknowledgment of his failure in the marriage, necessitating his move.
During the extensive interview, LaBeouf also shared details about his family history. He spoke about his paternal grandmother, who was a lesbian and married a man to serve as her public cover. He mentioned that his surname was originally spelled LeBoeuf but was altered by his grandmother in an effort to disassociate from her family, who had disowned her. Regarding the topic of homosexuality, LaBeouf reportedly commented, “I’m good with gay. Be gay over there though. Don’t be gay in my lap.””
