Actress Sydney Sweeney has sparked confusion among fans after stating she had never visited Times Square, a claim that appears contradicted by previous public appearances.
A Recent Visit and a Surprising Admission
In a recently shared video, Sweeney, 28, was filmed by her boyfriend, music manager Scooter Braun, experiencing Times Square. Braun, 44, posted a clip with the caption, “When you’re in bed at 11pm and your girl says ‘I’ve never been to Times Square…'” The footage shows the couple riding Citi Bikes, enjoying cheeseburgers, and soaking in the atmosphere of the iconic New York City landmark as Jay-Z and Alicia Keys’ “Empire State of Mind” played. Sweeney was also seen singing along to the music and viewing her American Eagle billboard in the bustling square.
Evidence Suggests Past Visits
However, social media users and observers quickly pointed to existing photographic and video evidence suggesting Sweeney has visited Times Square on multiple occasions. Notably, during the promotional tour for her film “Anyone But You” in December 2023, behind-the-scenes footage captured Sweeney and co-star Glen Powell, 37, walking through Times Square. In that clip, Sweeney appeared to express unfamiliarity with the location, asking, “Where are we?” and subsequently stating, “I’ve never been to Times Square!” Powell commented on her apparent lack of experience with certain activities, noting, “That’s the funny part about Syd. You realize she’s done everything and yet nothing.” Reports also indicate another visit in November 2025 while promoting her biopic “Christy.”
The discrepancy led to public comments, with one fan observing, “She ‘never been to Times Square’ but was there with Glen Powell in 2023 doing promo? The math ain’t mathing. Scooter got the recycled tour.” Another suggested, “She probably just forgot.” Representatives for Sydney Sweeney have been contacted for comment.
Sweeney’s Role in “Euphoria”
Sweeney’s recent appearances come as her role in the HBO series “Euphoria” continues to draw attention. The show’s season finale aired recently, featuring provocative scenes for her character, who portrays an adult content creator. One episode depicted her character nearly nude with a yellow python, while others have shown her in elaborate costumes, including a baby and a dog outfit, engaging in fetish-themed scenarios.
A source close to the situation previously indicated that Braun is supportive of Sweeney’s acting choices, stating, “He fully understands that it’s part of her job and respects how dedicated she is to her craft.” The insider emphasized the strength of their relationship and Braun’s respect for her willingness to take on daring roles.
Braun himself has spoken about his relationship with Sweeney, describing it as “one of the biggest surprises ever.” He met the actress prior to their public association in June 2025 following their appearance together at the wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez. Braun has characterized their relationship as a significant factor in his sense of “self-worth,” praising Sweeney as “kind and generous and smart, and real and down to earth.”
Braun finalized his divorce from Yael Cohen Braun in 2021, with whom he shares three children: Jagger, Levi, and Hart. Meanwhile, “Euphoria” creator Sam Levinson has faced scrutiny regarding Sweeney’s storylines, particularly the OnlyFans plotline, which some have described as “degrading.” Despite these criticisms, Sweeney stated in a 2022 interview that she never felt pressured into performing nude scenes and that Levinson welcomed her feedback. Nevertheless, some viewers have voiced concerns about the direction of the show’s narratives.
