NFL icon Tom Brady recently walked his dog Junie in Surfside, Florida, following a gym session. This appearance comes five months after he disclosed that Junie is a clone of his late pit bull mix, Lua.

Cloning His Beloved Pet

Brady cloned Junie using non-invasive technology from biotech firm Colossal Biosciences. The process involved a simple blood draw from Lua before her passing two years ago. Brady stated, “They mean the world to me and my family. A few years ago, I worked with Colossal and leveraged their non-invasive cloning technology through a simple blood draw of our family’s dog before she passed.”

This allowed Brady and his three children a second chance with a genetic replica of their cherished pet. Lua, adopted with ex-wife Gisele Bündchen in 2014, passed away in 2023 shortly after their divorce. The family also includes a beagle named Scooby (adopted 2015), a terrier named Fluffy (2016), and a black pit bull mix named Onyx.

Public Reaction to Cloning

The revelation sparked mixed online responses, with Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy calling the decision “weird.” Colossal Biosciences recently acquired Viagen Pets and Equine, companies that have cloned dogs for celebrities like Paris Hilton and Barbra Streisand.

Argentina’s President Javier Milei has cloned his dog Conan five times. Cloning costs range from $50,000 to $85,000 per animal. Critics highlight the issue of approximately 920,000 shelter animals euthanized annually in the U.S. due to overcrowding, urging pet owners to consider adoption instead.

Diet Choices and Recent Endorsements

Brady, known for his strict TB12 diet that avoids inflammatory foods like tomatoes and peppers, recently endorsed Pizza Hut and Dunkin’ Donuts. He previously described sugary cereals and sodas as “poison” for children in 2015.

Addressing the shift, Brady told CNBC, “It’s moderation in all things. I think there’s probably been people who have gone overboard with the kind of rigidity of my lifestyle or diet. I have kids, and I have Halloweens and birthday parties, and we’re like a normal family. I understand the reality of life as well.”
