Smart rings emerge as popular alternatives to smartwatches, offering discreet health tracking with sensors that monitor heart rate, temperature, and more. Oura’s Ring 4 leads the market with its sleek design and comprehensive app, though it requires a £5.99 monthly subscription atop the £349 starting price.

Ultrahuman challenges this dominance with the newly unveiled Ring Pro, priced at £419 and compatible with iPhone and Android devices. Core features operate without any subscription, potentially attracting users wary of ongoing fees. The device promises up to 15 days of battery life, surpassing the Oura Ring 4’s five-to-eight-day performance.

Design and Hardware Upgrades

The Ring Pro mirrors the style of its predecessor, the Ring Air, and the Oura Ring 4. Available in Bionic Gold, Space Silver, Aster Black, and Raw Titanium, it features a durable titanium unibody construction. Enhancements include a redesigned heart-rate sensing system that delivers superior accuracy during sleep and post-exercise recovery. A new dual-core processor accelerates data processing and boosts precision. For safety, the ring cuts more easily than prior models in cases of finger swelling or injury.

Battery and Advanced Charging

Ultrahuman claims the Ring Pro sustains 15 days on a single charge, a significant leap from the Ring Air’s roughly four days. A new Pro charging case extends usability by up to 45 additional days when fully charged. This portable case, akin to wireless earbud holders, supports on-the-go recharging and wireless power input. It includes a ‘find my case’ function with audible alerts via speaker and haptic vibrations linked to app notifications.

The ring stores up to 240 days of data, while the case holds a full year’s worth, ensuring health metrics remain intact even during extended periods without app syncs.

AI Integration and Optional Features

Ultrahuman introduces Jade, a real-time biointelligence AI platform upgrade available to all users worldwide. It provides “real-time actionable insights,” with future capabilities including food ordering, room temperature adjustments, and proactive health issue detection.

Core functions remain subscription-free, but optional PowerPlugs offer specialized add-ons. Paid options cover respiratory health (£2.99/month), Afib detection (£4.90/month), and cardio adaptability (£2.90/month). Free PowerPlugs track Vitamin D levels, screen time, cycles, and ovulation.
