Victor Osimhen, a highly sought-after forward, has addressed the persistent speculation linking him with a move to Arsenal. When questioned about potential transfer talks involving the Premier League club, Osimhen adopted a measured approach, stating he would “wait and see.” This response comes amidst ongoing rumors that have followed the Nigerian international throughout numerous transfer windows.

Osimhen’s Transfer Stance Amidst Arsenal Links

While previously associated with clubs like Chelsea, current reports suggest that Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are the primary Premier League clubs showing interest in Osimhen. The striker’s name reportedly surfaced during transfer discussions between Arsenal and Galatasaray, with the Turkish club having expressed interest in acquiring Ethan Nwaneri and Gabriel Martinelli. Although Martinelli ultimately rejected a move to Istanbul, Osimhen appeared open to possibilities when the Arsenal transfer rumors were presented to him.

Osimhen did not explicitly rule out a departure from his current club, but he emphasized his immediate focus on pre-season preparations. Arsenal is reportedly considering a move for the forward, who is valued at approximately £58 million. Reflecting on the constant transfer speculation, Osimhen commented, “There are always rumours in transfer seasons. I will take care of my business. I am focused on my job, then we will see and think further.”

Osimhen’s Premier League Ambitions

This is not the first time Osimhen has spoken about his aspirations to play in the Premier League. In 2023, during a period of exceptional form that saw Napoli clinch the Serie A title, he openly discussed his ambitions. At the time, after being honored as ‘Best Foreign Athlete of the Year’ by the Italian Foreign Press Association, he stated, “I think playing in one of the top five leagues in the world is an amazing feeling for me.”

He acknowledged the Premier League’s global reputation, noting, “A lot of people worldwide consider the Premier League as the best and the strongest league but now I’m in one of the best leagues in the world which is the Italian Serie A.” He reiterated his dedication to achieving his goal: “I’m working so hard to make sure that I achieve my dream of playing in the Premier League some day but like I said, it’s a process and I just want to keep on this momentum and continue to do well.”

Arsenal’s Striking Options and Transfer Challenges

Arsenal’s current attacking options include Viktor Gyokeres as a primary center-forward, with Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus also available for the role. Additionally, midfielder Mikel Merino has previously shown an ability to contribute goals when deployed in a more advanced position by manager Mikel Arteta.

The club has also been linked with a potential move for Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez, though reports indicate the Spanish club is seeking a fee exceeding £100 million for the Argentine international. Arsenal has faced notable setbacks in their pursuit of attacking reinforcements this summer. Previous attempts to sign Morgan Rogers and Vinicius Junior have failed, as both players opted to join Chelsea and remain with Real Madrid, respectively.

Conclusion: Awaiting Osimhen’s Next Move

Victor Osimhen’s measured response leaves the door open for a potential Premier League transfer, with Arsenal among the clubs reportedly interested. His stated focus on pre-season and his career process suggests that any decision regarding his future will be carefully considered. While his ambition to play in England remains, the specifics of his next career step are yet to be determined, leaving fans and clubs alike in a state of anticipation.
