A Cicero man is going through felony fees after police say he was caught burglarizing Chicago Police Division squad automobiles and Chicago Fireplace Division autos inside the town’s motorized vehicle upkeep yard in Fuller Park.
Andres Estrada, 26, was arrested shortly after midnight on Monday, September 29, when safety officers on the metropolis yard, positioned at 5219 South Wentworth Avenue, reported seeing him hiding between autos, in accordance with a CPD arrest report.
Officers searched the lot and noticed Estrada, who made eye contact with them earlier than bolting towards a fence, police mentioned. He allegedly dropped a backpack containing energy drills, a ratchet set, drill bits, and siren wires as he fled.
A CPD helicopter was referred to as to the world and shortly positioned a warmth signature that turned out to be Estrada. Whereas in custody, Estrada allegedly advised investigators he was solely performing as a lookout.
Police later recovered a second bag that they are saying contained stolen gear, together with 4 Ford hubcaps, two CPD radios, two police lights, two motherboards, a Chicago Fireplace Division radio, and “a bundle of multi-colored siren wires.”
