President Trump’s Physical Exam Results Released
A comprehensive summary of President Donald Trump’s latest physical examination at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center indicates he remains in excellent health. The findings, released late Friday, were compiled by Captain Sean P. Barbabella.
‘President Trump remains in excellent health, demonstrating strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and overall physical function,’ Captain Barbabella stated in his report. ‘His demanding daily schedule, including multiple high-level meetings, public engagements, and regular physical activity, continues to support his overall well-being. Cognitive and physical performance are excellent.’
Captain Barbabella concluded, ‘He is fully fit to carry out all duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State.’
President’s Statement and Previous Health Concerns
The President underwent his physical examination on Tuesday morning. Initial delays in releasing the results had fueled speculation. However, upon his return to the White House, President Trump himself shared his positive health assessment via Truth Social, stating, ‘Just finished my 6 month physical at Walter Reed Military Medical Center. Everything checked out PERFECTLY. Thank you to the great Doctors and Staff! Heading back to the White House.’
Earlier reports had addressed visible health indicators. In March, the President presented with a rash on his neck, attributed to a medicated cream used for preventive skin treatment. Additionally, in July, he was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, which explained a sudden onset of ankle swelling.
The report released Friday did note a weight gain of 17 pounds since his previous physical in April 2025. ‘Preventive counseling was provided, including guidance on diet, recommendation to take a low-dose aspirin, increased physical activity, and continued weight loss,’ the report detailed.
Broader Context of Presidential Fitness
The examination occurred shortly before President Trump’s 80th birthday, a milestone that positions him as the oldest President to serve. This comes at a time when public discourse regarding presidential fitness for office has intensified, particularly concerning former President Joe Biden. During a recent interview, former First Lady Jill Biden expressed concerns about her husband’s health during a past debate, stating she had ‘never ever seen Joe like that before or since.’
Questions surrounding President Biden’s health have persisted since he withdrew from the presidential race. His performance in a critical debate was cited as a turning point, leading to his withdrawal from the election three weeks later. Allegations of a deteriorating health condition, which his medical team and former aides have denied, have been a subject of debate.
Similar scrutiny is now directed at President Trump. While the White House has attributed near-constant hand bruising to vigorous handshaking and his daily aspirin regimen, and swollen ankles to chronic venous insufficiency, public perception of his mental and physical health has shifted in recent surveys. A Washington Post/ABC News/Ipsos poll in April indicated that only 40 percent of Americans believe President Trump possesses the mental sharpness required for the presidency, a decrease from 47 percent in September. Last month, 44 percent deemed him fit for the job, down from 54 percent in September.
Past Health Assessments and Public Statements
Past health assessments have also been subject to public interest. When President Trump contracted COVID-19 in 2020, briefings on his condition were generally optimistic. However, on-background comments from then-Chief of Staff Mark Meadows suggested a more serious situation. Similarly, in October, after a visit to Walter Reed, President Trump spoke of a ‘perfect MRI,’ which was later clarified by White House Physician Dr. Sean Barbabella as a CT scan intended to rule out cardiovascular or abdominal issues. At that time, Dr. Barbabella also confirmed the President was in ‘excellent overall health.’
Supporters have also highlighted positive health assessments. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. recently commented on an episode of the Katie Miller podcast, stating that Dr. Oz, after reviewing President Trump’s medical records, reported exceptionally high testosterone levels for an individual over 70 years old. These comments echo those made by then-White House doctor Ronny Jackson in 2018, who suggested President Trump possessed ‘incredible genes’ and could live to be 200 with a healthier diet.
It is important to note that presidents are not legally obligated to release detailed health information, which can lead to curated presentations of their medical status. President Trump himself has recently referenced his performance on a cognitive test during campaign rallies, emphasizing his desire to be perceived as intellectually capable.
