Gordon Ramsay dives into the pool to train for an upcoming Ironman triathlon, drawing inspiration from his Olympic swimmer son-in-law, Adam Peaty.
Ramsay’s Intense Swim Session
The celebrity chef recently shared a topless photo from the Toronto Athletic Club pool in Canada via his Instagram Story. He posted a video of his branded swim cap for the Ironman race set for later this year in Costa Navarino, Peloponnese, Greece. His fitness watch revealed a 2,000-meter swim completed in 33 minutes.
The Ironman challenges competitors with a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride, and a 26.22-mile marathon run all in one day.
Family Ties and Shared Inspiration
Adam Peaty, a three-time Olympic gold medalist in breaststroke, married Gordon’s daughter Holly on December 27. The couple’s bond has strengthened family connections, especially amid Peaty’s estrangement from his own relatives.
Gordon revealed on Gaby Roslin’s Reasons To Be Joyful podcast that Peaty now calls him ‘Dad.’ He shared: ‘He calls me dad. He messaged me and said “Hey dad, what have you got? Hey dad, are you around later?” And it’s just like, “Oh my God”. Incredible. And what a lovely couple. They are a dream for Tana and I.’
At the wedding, Peaty delivered an emotional speech, stating he would ‘always choose’ his wife. Gordon responded publicly: ‘Beautiful words @adamramsaypeaty @hollyramsaypeaty True Love ❤️ congratulations love you both so much Dad ❤️.’
Striking Similarities and Family Drama
Peaty, 31, resembles Gordon at his 1996 wedding to Tana, when the chef was 30. Both sported similar quiffs, though styles differed slightly—Peaty in a tuxedo, Gordon in grey trousers, waistcoat, and striped tie.
Peaty excluded his parents, Caroline and Mark, from the wedding, fueling an ongoing family feud. His aunt, Louise Williams, criticized the situation online, highlighting Mark’s sacrifices as a bricklayer who ‘worked his hands raw and bleeding’ to support Peaty’s swimming career. She wrote: ‘Oh Adam your poor dad. How could you? That man literally worked his hands bloody in order that you could pursue your dream… He worked long long days as a brickie – a hard laborious back breaking job. He did it without moan or complaint.’
Gordon recently featured Peaty in his Netflix documentary, underscoring their close relationship.
